Today wasn't too bad

I ate healthy food today, nothing that couldn't make my body feel good! More tomorrow!

Beginning Now...

Dear Diary,
I have been binging on saltwater taffy for two weeks. I feel bloated, have headaches, I'm beyond sad. I'm not depressed, I'm blue. I can't get going.

I'm afraid of failing. I've walked around the mountain too many times.

I'm ready, I want to feel good and have more energy. Every morning I look in the mirror and wash my face to wake up and the person I see isn't me, I really don't know her. I'm inside a person I don't recognize. I spend day after day planning how I'm going to eat, exercise and find time to meditate so I never get to doing it.

At this moment I have a small plan to begin with and that is getting rid of a half a bag of salt water taffy. Do I kiss a few before I dump them in the garbage? I still have a frozen coconut cake in the freezer and you can bet on it, I'm having some of that before I Kim Kardasian it.

I read somewhere that Kim Kardasian bought a dessert in NYC that cost $1,500.00; she took one bite and poured something on the rest of the dessert to destroy it. One bite only. She says she don't feel deprived but only one bite.

When I was doing pretty good at being healthy I had a frozen coconut cake that I took one bite a day for nearly two months! A little less than half got thrown away.

I need all the stuff on my plate, at least meat and veggie with my dessert before bed. Mostly instead of empty calories I'll have low fat Greek yogurt mixed with Uncle Sam's cereal. Filling and yummy. I also enjoy a bowl of oatmeal with Sweet n Low, half & half and I Can't Believe It's Butter.

Speaking of oatmeal, I read an article where a woman sad she ate oatmeal for breakfast but it wasn't carrying her to lunch. The columnist said cook your oatmeal in low fat milk instead of eat and serve it with a dollop of Greek yogurt. I can say it is definitely more filling, I don't know what cooking it with milk does to it but I'm all for it. My husband liked the cooking of the oats in milk but be didn't seem to appreciate the yogurt. After 32 years of marriage we read each other pretty good. lol

At this point I have chosen the Atkins except for my one bite a day of cake. I'll lose, I always do, it's my bad judgment that messes me up. I allow my self an extra bite and then wham. I'm an emotional eater so I need a journal to work this all out.

Tree is up!

Had fun putting up the tree awhile back. We don't have children or grandchildren nearby to enjoy the tree but Ben and I enjoy it everyday.

Sometimes I think of the people that have a tree up all year putting ornaments and lighting on it depending on the season. I don't think I could do that tho, it's like turkey, the big bird is usually once a year around here. Not that I don't eat different forms of turkey through the year. I hit the deli for turkey at least once a month!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

The Journey of the hand

The week of Sept 20, I had 2 surgeries to clean the infection out of my hand. My last post showed the hospital hand and this one shows the leaving the hospital hand with ten stitches instead of two.

I wanted to blog this picture before too much time passes. I am also trying the blogger iPhone app so here goes.

Ouchie!!!!

Another Saturday Night and I ain't got nobody!

I got a relapse with my trigger finger, that involved my 'driving finger' (middle finger) on my dominate hand. The shot I got five years ago didn't work this time around so I got the ligament clipped and went home with pain meds and two stitches. The surgery was the middle of July. By the middle of September I was infected, had two more surgeries and hopefully I will get the twelve stitches removed this upcoming Monday. (Cut and stuffed like a turkey in the above picture.)

While in the hospital I schmoozed with a Major's wife who was in the next bed and two of her friends that had four star generals for husband's. We had a blast, like a girl's night out for being in the hospital. The fact that two of us were on pain killers helped in that scenario.

Speaking of pain meds, time to take one and do my finger exercises. Once the stitches come out I will be able to finish healing because after two weeks they are tight as a drum.

I've been gone too long

Where does time go to? I haven't posted since 2010!!! Good God!

Okay, I have no way to recall what I have done or haven't done in two years.

I got my concealed weapons permit renewed, I remember that because my keychain had mace on it so the guard told me I had to take that back to my car. They also didn't take debit cards so I had to drive to my bank to pull money out. A little trip to get a simple thing fixed. I thought it would take me about half an hour but it turned into a task that took all morning.

I just tried to post a picture but this is from my IPad and the whole thing is just unhappy with it all.

My Granddaughter is growing too fast. I miss her, she lives in Kentucky with her Mom. My other daughter lives in North Carolina but we hardly hear from her, sometimes children really do go away.

I have no family near me but my husband and my goofy dogs. I guess they'll do, they make me laugh like crazy and some days they just make me crazy but I love them LOTS!!

I was reading a persons blog for four days now, she started in 2008. Her name is Twinkie Chan and she crochets some cute things, has a little business going with it but I am still reading 2011 so I have more to find out. She is a sweet girl, find her on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/twinkiechan

Well, it's after 0220 and I still need to balance my checkbook, so adios for now.

I've been away a long time...

I have been gone a long time. I have people on My Space, Facebook and here. There is too much going on to go to all three and keep up. I'm too tired and it's crazy to try. How does everyone else do this??

Eating Fritos at 4AM

Wow, I stayed up all night messing around on the computer and listening to rock and roll.

I fried chicken for Skully at midnight and made gravy too!

Yesterday we had a thunderstorm that lasted about half an hour. That is very unusual for southwestern Washington. Usually we get a thunder about once a year. And lightening is an anomaly. I miss the thunderstorms back in Illinois. I never lived in a place that didn't have thunderstorms until we moved to Chehalis, WA. I'm willing to move anywhere that get some good storms. I like when the thunder is so massive the whole house shakes. Bring it on!!

We are finally into spring. It's hard to believe that we had snow a few weeks ago. I know it's spring because I have mowed the lawn twice now.

I also planted some Pocket Book flowers, Zinnias and two pine tree type plants. One is like a shrub. I have to get plants that will do okay in partial sun because we have so many trees around the house. I need to find a plant that will thrive in no sun light at all; for under the Hazelnut trees. It is totally bald under those trees.

Okay...fine

Well now, you will read my last blog and wonder where the second Jerusalem clock went. Hm, aye...I found out how to rid myself of it. LOL! Who knew.

Good-night Sweet family and Friends. The night awaits me. I have plans. Darting on four paws between evergreens...ha-ha!

Well...poo!

This picture is my beautiful Grand daughter "G."

"G", is the apple of my eye! When I look at her pictures I just want to hug her and squeeze her, then ply her with kisses! Thank you "C" for the beautiful gift of "G" five years ago, what a great birthday present that year!

I have tried to put my clock on the side and now I have two. I'm laughing about it because I don't know how to change it! I'm not a computer whiz, I knit socks!!

Lately I have been too tired to be online much. I need my yearly blood transfusion. Dang medical insurance criteria is much different from mine.

All in a day's whatever...

At KMart I ran my debit card, entered my pin and went through the whole role. I thought I put the card in my wallet. Well, the purchase got balled up and she said I had to swipe my card again. No card. Looking through everything as the line gets longer. Finally I said I'd write a check. As that is processing I'm wondering if I left the card at home, after making some online purchases this morning? Did I swipe my blue Chevron card accidentally and I left the debit at home. "Oh God that be true."

While this sale went on a woman with two small children went pass me. So, I think shoot did she swoop in and take it when it dropped on the floor. Plus she was standing behind me in line for awhile. What if she saw me punch in my pin number?? I have to get home to search.

I run into my neighbor. Then I ran into my second neighbor.

I get home and tear the bedroom apart. Call the bank to report a possible theft. Yes, that woman snookered me big time. I have to wait ten days for a new card and go check my bank account for the next few days and it is now a hot card. I put Ben's card through the shredder.

I got these cute blouses for $3.99 each! And, I had to get a new cassette player/CD player to listen to audio books. On the bottom of the bag was my debit card smiling at me.

But, I wondered if that woman had swiped my card!? I told Ben I was so happy it wasn't that woman. I always say the only exercise I get is jumping to conclusions.

I finished the Pillow!!

I finished my Candy Corn Pillow. He's a cutie isn't he? My daughter already called "dibbs," so as soon as I find a box for him, he is on his way to Louisville, Kentucky. I'm sure as soon as my daughter "C" gets him, my Grand daughter "G" will take over as his owner. (Just a hunch.)

In other news, we had snow again. Someone sure ticked off mother nature! We don't have buds on the trees yet nor one wild daffodil sprouting up anywhere. We did have icicles this morning. Reality, what a concept!!

I'm working on a couple things right now in the crafts department. I'm knitting "G" a hooded sweater, crocheting a toilet paper cover (while getting used to ergonomic crochet hooks-they are fabulous!) and starting an afghan on my biggest loom. I am also pondering what loom to use for some puppy pads and blankets for the local animal shelter and dachshund rescue.

That's all the news at the moment. I am married to a very wonderful man that I don't appreciate as much as I should. He is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.

My Latest Project and it's crochet!

I found this kit while perusing my stash. I haven't crocheted in awhile because my wrists begin to hurt and my fingers can start freezing if I don't quit at the early warning signs. I won some ergonomic crochet hooks on EBay and I'm waiting for their arrival. In the mean time I do a little crocheting and rest then pick it up again.
I did this half of the pillow yesterday and quit before madness set in.
This Candy Corn Pillow seemed like the perfect distraction. For some reason working on a Halloween project in February is exciting. Like working on Christmas projects in July.
October 30th is National Candy Corn Day. Candy corn was created in the 1880s by the Wunderlee Candy Company and, by 1900, was being produced by the Goelitz Candy Company (now Jelly Belly) it's been produced for more than a century. The recipe changed slightly over time and there are probably a few variations in recipes between candy companies, but the use of a mixture of sugar, corn syrup, gelatin and vanilla (as well as honey, in some brands) is the standard. A serving of candy corn has about 22 pieces and contains 140 calories, no fat. While it is just about all sugar, the sweet can still be a better choice than a couple of mini candy bars or other Halloween treats that are high in both calories and in fat. Additionally, 22 pieces of candy corn will last a lot longer than one mini candy bar will. I love that candy corn. One day I might try making it. So far I have created them by knitting. crocheting or cookies.

Knitted Kitty

My first knitted kitty. I will make a couple changes for the next one. This varigated is cute but I need to find a way to embroider colors that will show up brighter. This too was knitted on two needles.
